PREVIOUS ARTICLE FROM DEDHAM NEWSPAPER

On Sunday, Sept. 26 the Dedham Holiday Inn & Conference Center is the next N.E. Compact Disc and Record Expo sponsored by the Randolph Music Center. (this is an article from 2 years back. Next show Feb 23, 2014!)

Burt and Sheila have been promoting these shows for decades now, the expo starting around 1977 making quite a splash back in the day when held at the old hotel by the Sack 57 Theater in Boston. Centrally located in 2010 at the Dedham Holiday Inn the show boasts dozens of music, book and collectible dealers and a strong following that knows this is the place to find esoteric stuff that eBay might not have readily available.
What’s unique about this record show is the regional personalities who continue to attend...Moulty of the legendary Provincetown band The Barbarians showed up in February and April just as his performance on the wildly successful T.A.M.I. Show DVD was being legitimately released for the first time by Shout! Factory.  The T.A.M.I. show was a film that included James Brown, The Rolling Stones, The Supremes, The Beach Boys, Lesley Gore and others in the pre-Woodstock era and for years it has circulated in the "underground" as a bootleg or pirate release.  There are only legitimate recordings at the Original New England Compact Disc and Record Expo, which made the two appearances by Moulty so special as his new DVD was released by an international company.  It hit #1 on some categories on Amazon with this Randolph Music Center event the only public place where Moulty talked about the previously "lost" movie.
Other notables who have been sighted at these wonderful record shows are Ken Shelton of WBCN, Ed Bowen of WATD, Gary Sohmers from WCAP, Bob Boyer from Sunset Records, singer Andy Pratt of Avenging Annie fame, Stewkey of the Nazz with his hit "Hello, It’s Me" (later made famous again by its author Todd Rundgren)...and what is super interesting for music fans is that both Moulty and Stewkey are two of the more famous members of the famous Nuggets club, artists who appear on Lenny Kaye’s iconic double LP on Elektra Records, Nuggets.  You never know if one of the legendary Boston rockers like Tennie Komar from The Silencers might show up to talk about her new CD, "Temptation", as if popping out of the E.P. from the early 1980s, "Future Stories", that shows up at many of these expos.
Folksinger Howie Newman of "Blasted In The Bleachers" fame has shown up and performed solo while public access TV stations from CCTV Cambridge to HCTV Haverhill and Wincam/Winchester have all attended and videotaped the events.  Moulty and author Tracie Rotkiewicz (of The Freedom To Rock fame) are on a current episode of Visual Radio airing on local access tv stations around Massachusetts.
It’s the place to be on a Sunday at the beginning of autumn to find music, autographs, books, posters and other collectibles as Christmas approaches.
